¿Qué tengo que llevar?

Los participantes deben de tener en cuenta que el día del examen deben presentar el DNI o pasaporte a modo de identificación, de lo contrario no se les permitirá el acceso al aula. También realizarán una prueba de sonido y de grabación de voz antes del comienzo del examen para asegurarse del correcto funcionamiento de los auriculares. Es importante hacer esta comprobación antes de empezar el examen, ya que una vez se inicie no será posible modificar los niveles de audio y grabación de voz. Una vez hecho esto, tendrán que registrarse como usuarios, y este perfil de alumno les permitirá acceder posteriormente a sus resultados.

 

¿Por qué el Oxford Test of English?

  • Está reconocido externamente por instituciones educativas y certificado por la Universidad de Oxford
  • Certifica en un solo examen los niveles A2, B1 y B2 de acuerdo al Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las lenguas (MCERL)

¿Cuánto dura el examen?

El examen tiene una duración de dos horas ininterrumpidas.


¿Cuál es la estructura del examen?

El examen cubre cuatro competencias: expresión oral, comprensión auditiva, expresión escrita y comprensión lectora. Los participantes dispondrán de un tiempo límite para completar cada una de estas tareas.

Los módulos de comprensión lectora y auditiva son adaptables. La prueba se adapta a las respuestas del sujeto. Esto hace que la prueba sea más corta y precisa que las pruebas lineales tradicionales.

Los módulos de expresión oral y escrita ofrecen pruebas individualizadas que han sido revisadas por evaluadores con experiencia.
 

SPEAKING (EXPRESIÓN ORAL)​. Todas las tareas del módulo de expresión oral se basan en contextos modernos y relevantes. el módulo de expresión oral, los examinados podrán participar en una entrevista simulada, grabar un mensaje de voz y responder a preguntas de comprobación. El módulo de expresión oral consta de cuatro partes y dura aproximadamente 15 minutos.

LISTENING (COMPRENSIÓN AUDITIVA). El material empleado en el módulo de comprensión auditiva ha sido adaptado a partir de fuentes reales. Los pasajes simulan conversaciones y discursos que se oyen habitualmente en diversos contextos anglófonos modernos. El módulo de comprensión auditiva consta de cuatro partes y se completa en aproximadamente 30 minutos. Las tareas de este módulo comprenden: comprensión del significado principaI, identificación de los detalles, significado local y global, identificación de opinión y actitud, y comprensión de significados inferidos, interacción y pragmática.

READING (COMPRENSIÓN LECTORA)​. Los textos y extractos utilizados en los cuatro apartados del módulo de comprensión lectora varían en longitud y complejidad, y son todos ejemplos reales. El módulo de comprensión lectora consta de cuatro partes y dura aproximadamente 30 minutos.

WRITING (EXPRESIÓN ESCRITA). En el módulo de expresión escrita, los participantes podrán demostrar su precisión en el manejo de vocabulario y gramática, así como su capacidad para estructurar y sintetizar textos.Consta de dos partes y dura aproximadamente 45 minutos. En la segunda parte, los participantes pueden seleccionar la tarea que mejor se adapte a su desempeño. Los participantes deberán ser capaces de: dar información, expresar o responder a opiniones y sentimientos, invitar, solicitar y sugerir, redactar para desarrollar un argumento, redactar para persuadir o sugerir, narrar y describir

 

¿Cuándo estarán disponibles los resultados?

Los resultados de la prueba están disponibles en 14 días. Se presentan en un formato claro e informativo a modo de informe que muestra el nivel de la persona examinada en cada una de las cuatro competencias por separado y, en general, de acuerdo con los niveles del Marco Común Europeo de Referencia (MCER).

Una vez enviados los resultados, las personas que hayan realizado el examen pueden imprimir el certificado y presentarlo a su empresa o ante instituciones educativas

 

¿Cómo puedo prepararme para el examen?

Si necesitas ayuda extra para preparar el examen, puedes utilizar los libros Oxford Test of English: Practice Tests que incluyen ejercicios tipo para cada una de las destrezas. 

Están divididos por niveles, para la preparación del nivel B1 y B2 respectivamente.

También podéis practicar y mejorar en las cuatro destrezas ​(Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing) ​con el programa ​Oxford Online Skills Program​. Estos cursos on-line cuentan con contenido adaptable según nivel y proporcionan entre 30 y 40 horas de material de práctica para cada nivel (A1 – C1).

What do I need to bring?

Participants must take into account that the day of the exam must present a passport or identity card, otherwise you will not be allowed to access to the classroom. Also you will take a test of sound and voice recording before the start of the test to ensure the earphones work. It is important to make this check before starting the test, because once you start you will not be able to change the levels of audio and voice recording. Once this is done, you will have to register as a user and this profile of student will allow you to access to your results.

How long is the test?

The test has a duration of two hours.

 

What is the structure of the exam?

The exam covers four skills: oral expression, listening comprehension, written expression and comprehension. Participants will have a time to complete each of these tasks.
The modules and listening skills are adaptable. The test is adapted to the answers of the person.This causes the test is shorter and more precise than the traditional linear tests.

 

SPEAKING (oral expression). All tasks in the oral expression module are based on modern and relevant contexts. In the oral expression, the examined will be able to participate in a mock interview, record a voice message and answer questions. The oral expression module consists of four parts and lasts approximately 15 minutes.

LISTENING (listening comprehension). The material used in the Listening Module has been adapted from real sources. The passages simulate talks and speeches that are heard regularly in various modern English-speaking contexts. The listening module consists of four parts and is completed in approximately 30 minutes. The tasks of this module include: understanding of the principal meaning, identification of the details, local and global meaning, identification of opinion and attitude, and understanding of meanings inferred, interaction and pragmatic.

READING (reading comprehension). The texts and extracts used in the four sections of the comprehension module vary in length and complexity, and they are all real examples. The comprehension module consists of four parts and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

WRITING (written expression). In the writing module, participants will be able to demonstrate its accuracy in the handling of vocabulary and grammar, as well as their ability to structure and synthesise texts.It consists of two parts and lasts approximately 45 minutes. In the second part, the participants can select the task that is best suited to their performance. Participants should be able to: give information, express or respond to opinions and feelings, invite, request and suggest, writing to develop an argument, writing to persuade or suggest, narrate and describe.

 

When will the results be available?

The results of the test are available in 14 days. They are presented in a clear format and informative report that shows the level of the person examined in each of the four powers separately and, in general, according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Once you submit the results, the people who have carried out the examination may print the certificate and submit it to your company or educational institutions.

 

How can I prepare the exam?

If you need extra help to prepare the exam, you can use the books Oxford Test of English: Practice Tests that include exercises for each of the skills. They are divided by levels, for the preparation of the level B1 and B2, respectively.


You can also practice and improve in all four skills (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing) with the Oxford Online Skills Program. These on-line courses have adaptable content according to each level and provide between 30 and 40 hours of practice for each level (A1 - C1).
